the africans who decided to practice self-reliance and work on American Black communities irrespective of what whitey was doing had the right idea and easily could've had more areas looking like what the historic "middle class" black districts of atlanta came to be. but yankee sludge money and virtue-buying from abolitionist evangelicals kind of hollowed out and corroded their nascent attempts at homesteading here. i don't think there was a real need for mass repatriation but to not even offer it considering the context of slavery was a pretty inhumane move from the quasi-early mil-ind cabal that came into power after lincoln's death. it says a lot about the backroom mentalities of the northerners that they effectively saw freed blacks as pawns to shuffle around on a chessboard to punish these recalcitrant cavaliers who wanted to preserve some semblance of european inspired courtly life (amongst other things, not trying to gloss over the economic/social/etc implications of slavery, a terrible thing, but culturally what happened was like a Hiroshima event atom bomb that the south still hasn't recovered from even to this day, affecting whites and blacks and effectively "poisoning the well" for centuries to come)

blacks are a part of this country too and while i think a lot of the racial agitation is actually bad faith actors capitalizing on very normal and perhaps even healthy if minimal friction between racial groups there also is a lot of racism that goes beyond what could be described as natural and leads to all sorts of horrific stuff being instituted as policy

imo this is a white country, white americans built this, broke the foundations, created it by and large, but a key part of our shared European culture is good and gracious treatment of guests and real concern for the welfare of the entire polity, not just one racial group or another. civnat stuff is totally broken atm, corroded, hardened, ossified, stretched out by the moloch money machine inferno, but it's also what we have to work with as the main baseline for sentiments on idk the "alt right" i guess, which is now a category that includes Actual Paleocons and civnat stuff includes anyone who wants to be a part of it so long as they aren't bringing a mountain of baggage and resentments (whether racial, religious, social, etc) along with them
