When ppl used google, they'd find a good 'primary source' and go read it, and the primary-source author would get paid and, thus, their good work incentivized. Now with AI, no one goes to the primary source anymore, and so there's no incentive to produce good primary sources, and you're already seeing the slowdown of good content creation. This will, in the intermediate and long term, make LLMs themselves shittier as all their new training data is garbage (or is itself AI-created, causing the 'copy of a copy of a copy' effect where hallucinations and shitty content get magnified through iterative AI content creation).
