When hipster food trucks first started proliferating about 15 years ago, they were, at least, interesting and novel. It was kind of cool to get ribs and mac and cheese or whatever from a truck. But, especially these days, the food is generally not that good. It turns out cooking anything beyond hot dogs and tacos doesn't lend itself to a cramped truck with minimal refrigeration.

also, regulation and other BS inflates the prices. it's not like the food is cheap like some third world street cart.

When I was a kid, before the rise of hipster food trucks, food trucks were viewed by normal people as disgusting and only construction workers would eat there. (They would drive around to construction sites.) People called them "roach coaches".

CR. There wasn't such a thing as a food truck that most people encountered. There were hot dog carts in the city, pickups that went to construction sites, and the ice cream truck. That was it.
