it mostly holds local criminals, confused vacationers, and the owner keeps pitching the state to turn it into migrant housing.

it has some run down empty buildings - but that is because it has seen it's population decline significantly since the 1960s and it overbuilt in the 80s as a shopping destination for Canadians when their dollar was much stronger.
it isn't like Detroit where the dead mall is now filled with drug dealers and criminals, it is just a storage business instead.
sad in a way i guess, but not desperate. the community is still happy and if i was a retiring boomer i'd love to pick up one of the cheap old victorian homes on the river to live in.
