They churn through Businesses and make a quick exit if it isn’t working. $69,000,000,000k for Activision with nothing to show for it. The whole situation is way over Phil’s head because he’s just a simple Gen X gamer. But you can’t build a brand that fans will embrace if there’s constant meddling from an Indian CEO imo. The price increases are supposedly because they want to show an ROI ASAP but it’s utterly retarded when they aren’t offering anything of value. The break-even on gamepass is like 5-6 AAA games a year or something when you consider how quickly Titles go on sale. For this to happen you’d have to be the sort of person who would play Avowed on release I.e. in SSDI imo.
Meanwhile, Nintendo gets it. They know gamers are fickle and will love them/hate them in spurts for no reason. This is why they’re so conservative. They have 30% the headcount of Ubisoft. Instead of adding resources to make Games, they make No Games because they know how this shit works. They know that the more games they make, the more gamers will turn on them. |

Streaming was established. Console gamers are the only people who care about physical media - they were numerous back then but getting fewer now, plus older and fatter. Many of them are Gen X. Buying physical games at GameStop is akin to buying groceries at Dollar General - Scummy and lurid in an antiquated fashion, a relic of the old America like rusted out mills and abandoned factories. The same points have been valid for 20 years. Western made PS2 games were targeted at like a 80 IQ 12 year old. PS5 still has Film streaming without the soap opera the effect that I can’t otherwise get rid of plus Timed Exclusives plus a good PC is expensive with weird lights on it.
But at least in 2004 PC had better games, like half life 2 vs some crap on shitcube was no contest. Now it’s all The Same anyway. Consoles are actually better than they were in 2004 relative to pc imo. |
