What is the point of “saving for retirement” when SS + Pensions > income?

Wage income while working.
Why do so many people spazz out about the need to “save for retirement” when all these retirees just live off their employer plans and government checks and spend very little if anything?

The breakdown for our retirement income is projected to be something like this:
My Social Security Benefit: 37.96%
Social Security Spousal Benefit: 18.99%
Wife's Pension Benefit: 43.06%
Of that income, it's going to be between 105% and 125% of what we could possibly spend per year (and this includes estimated federal income tax of 22%, Property Taxes that are 50% higher than they currently are, 2.5% of property value for maintenance/repairs, costs for two cars including insurance, over $1,000 a month for food and eating out (which is beyond excessive for 2 people), $1000/mo of random shopping, $30,000 per year for travel (insane budget that we probobaly won't come close to), and $20,000 per annum for healthcare expenses.
So that's an insanely inflated budget for 2 people, the income will be whatever it is, and it will still be more than we need. So we are saving all this money in retirement accounts and while its cool to have some extra flexibility (maybe at some point we will decide to buy more shit or buy a house for kids, or do whatever), it's not really necessary to save for retirement because retirement will just naturally be funded as a consequence of being a fully productive working individual over the course of a lifetime.

If my wife and I were 70 today, we’d be getting like $13,000/mo from SSA and her pension. Our house would be paid off, our kids would be out of the house doing whatever, we’d literally be bringing in like $6,000-8,000 more per month than we spend, so I guess we could remodel the whole house, buy new cars every 18 months, go to the gym, eat only the healthiest things, travel whenever snd to wherever without ever touching a penny of our “retirement savings.”
