Federal Status (United States): As of mid-2025, the legal status of FRTs has shifted significantly. Following settlements in cases like US v. Rare Breed Triggers (May 2025), the federal government (DOJ/ATF) has largely been enjoined from classifying specific FRTs as "machine guns" solely based on their reset mechanism, provided they still require a separate pull of the trigger for each shot. Generally, federally, they are currently legal to own.
