Bob Christgau reviews, going to small live concerts. Hundreds of hours each year. Music-loving girlfriends.

Now? I’m an old man (33). Probably listen to 10 new songs per year

I had a buddy with extremely niche and esoteric taste who was a soulseek metal guru. He once told me that the only music that appealed to him were bands that only made one record, and it had to be a demo, between 1985 and 1993. He once said that Metallica's Kill Em All was the most mainstream record he'd ever voluntarily listen to. His favorite subgenre was Death and he was somewhat of a well respected guy online. He even met a few chicks on there he dated in real life.

Anyone remember the era of music blogs? 2008ish?

The blogger would review an album and then just drop a link to a rapidshare of the album right in the blog poast. A lot of it was FLAC too which was pretty novel for the time. I got turned on to so much cr stuff that way

holyfuckingshit40000 and welikeitlossless were the two I was most into

Everyone wanted to be a blogger at one point. It was a really big deal. Then YouTube crushed them. Video content became king.
