Watched 'Euphoria' on HBO - is this is voice of "gen Z"? lmao

Date: June 21st, 2019 12:14 PM Author: Mind-boggling university They act like they are the first generation brought up in an era where kids were overly saturated with media, had Rx drugs foisted upon them for all manner of real or imagined 'disorders' like 'adhd', turned to drugs and alcohol to combat the pain and ennui of life and engage in casual sex all in a quest to momentarily have 'euphoria' to dull the pain. The main character even talks about how she was born on 9/11 into a "crazy new world" - well, at least you weren't the generation sent over to Iraq and Afghanistan to get blown up. She then goes on to say "I had the typical middle class life" - oh, the horror! The horror of suburban America! No one has ever commented on this before!
Their entire generational oeuvre so far seems to be centered around a narcissistic false sense of 'uniqueness', a sense of existential ennui and anxiety from being in an increasingly fast moving world, all the while having innovated in no real way and not done or gone through any real unique experience with which to attribute their judgmental attitude. They even talk about how college is pointless because "climate change will destroy the world soon". LJL at these privileged, trite idiots re-doing bored, entitled apathy as "art". |
