don't like their hyperspecific thing. Like you could be talking with someone and hitting it off naturally and then they make reference to some golfer who was mildly popular in the 90s and if you don't know that specific thing that only super fans of their weird niche know the conversation goes silent and there's an immediate chill in the atmosphere and they look at you like you're a psychopath. Now rinse and repeat but the next person you talk to is an anime fan. You're expected to remember Attack on Titan Season 2 as if you had watched it yesterday. You're supposed to know everything about everything these days! You cannot simply "pass" on a topic anymore.
People do this with bands too. They go I'm a huge fan of Bridge of Veils they had like 400 fans in 2007. You can't keep up with this shit!
