Obama wants to eliminate the payroll tax cap, which is now around 90k. a first year biglaw associate with bonus (assuming nyc) makes 195k. so that's 7.5% of ~100k. with his payroll tax increase alone, that's costing 1st year biglaw associates $7500 for just one year. if he raises any other taxes, you're talking about over 10k more a 1st year biglaw associate will be paying. note also that a lot of these associates are 150k in debt, NOT rich.
