Get a cayenne s. You are going to pay SUV parking anyway. Should at least get something that can hold your family and luggage. Macan is fucking tiny.

PS idk if you currently have a car in MFH but highly recommend the app drop car for parking. They pick up and drop off your car on demand 6 round trips per month. Also will do service for you at Porsche of manhattan now (or manhattan motor cars or whatever it’s called). I trust them with my Porsche and they’re very insured.

GLE is equivalent to the Cayenne

GLC is equivalent to the Macan. SQ5 is the same platform as Macan.

Personally, I'm sticking to Mercedes because it is just a little bit cheaper and less flashy and just as good (I'm getting the AMG 63 trim for the GLE).

neither SUV you list is suitable for two car seats (whether for infant or toddler or older)

unless you only have the car to drive really short trips and it's just nice to have versus a necessity

if you are doing any long hauls or plan to road trip in general, everyone will be happier with more space

take the carseat and base to dealerships - put it in cars per safety instructions - then have everyone settle in to see how it feels

XC90 was suggested and is a better option if not just a rando grocery trip mobile - 2017 Q7 tech upgrades are pretty 180 too

minivans are also the ultimate stay at home wife request because it's basically a moving house and they need a lot of room and space to cart the tikes around and generally speaking storage/flexibility is just superior

I wouldn't keep a "fancy" car in MFH, especially with kids. It will get fucked up/dinged up/scratched up (not to mention regularly puked in) fast, even in a parking garage, which will make you sad. Just do Honda, etc.

Sienna might be credited if you had a hard-on for AWD

Sedona might be credited if you were dead-set on something new and wanted to be as cheap as possible

Nissan quietly killed off the Quest

I don't really know what the Oddessy buyer is. I mean, it *might* be more reliable than the rest of the pack. But differences in reliability aren't as substantial as they used to be.

I felt like the Pacifica has the best folding seating.

I'd also give it the edge on powertrain and suspension. When I went for a test drive in an Oddessy I thought the tires were severely overinflated because the ride was awful

the Macan isn't even bad for what it is, aside from the price tag. it's basically a compact sport wagon like the old Audi S4 Avant, but it's a horrible car for someone who wants to put kid seats in it and drive 15 miles an hour around a crowded city.

Will test drive the cayenne, xc90, and Pacifica this weekend. Unless the cayenne or Pacifica blow me out of the water, I'll go with the xo Oddy.

I don't really care what people think about sport vans itt or irl. When they see me hauling lumber, a boat, some kegs, or six of my best bros out to the lake for a weekend trip they'll know what's up

We have a gle 350 and it has a ton of cargo space and room for 2 car seats.

We also have a Tiguan and it has no space. Super cramped. Macan is same size.

I believe you want either a gle 350 or a cayenne but they’re not in the same price point.

Also xc90 is same size as gle 350 but it costs $12k more because inventory is lower and harder to negotiate with 2 dealers v 10 MB dealers.

xc90 is almost a foot longer and wider than the gle 350, and the xc90 has a third row seat. volvo has slightly more cargo space with the third row down.

i haven't priced the MB but I can believe the volvo is more expensive. the ones i was looking at (fairly tricked out 2017 T6 momentums) were over 60k used. base model MSRP though MB is 53k vs 47k for volvo

The V6 4wd XC 90 was $70k v $62k msrp for a GLE 4matic. After all said and done, the gle was $54k while Volvo dealer wouldn’t go below $66k. I don’t remember exactly anymore but XC90 was about 6” longer to fit 3rd row of seats. The space from the front passenger to the 2nd row was the same, which is what we cared about given how bulky car seats are. The 7 passenger thing is useless to us since it will always be cramped with a 3rd row. If you want real 7 passenger, it’s minivan or Suburban time.

We looked at every suv in midsize category. Almost got a Honda Pilot but price diff btwn that and gle was like $12-13k for top trim pilot with MSRP of $48k and they wouldn’t go to $40k. They don’t have a ton of the top trim and there are like 100 GLE 4matics so easier to negotiate.
