I've been to Sakura - it's a pathetic excuse for sushi, Japanese kitchen cuisine, and hibachi. I once ordered the chicken teriyaki dish there, and it was oversauced with the underlying meat being bland - the sort of quality you'd expect to find in a mall food court japanese place.

For the buffet, you either went to Golden Corral or Wood Fire Grill, both of which don't hold a candle to the locally-owned made-from-scratch buffets you can find in every Southern town in NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, and N. FL. C'Ville also is stuck in the '80s notion that haute cuisine is supposed to be "French." There are so many pricey restaurants there that phone it in when it comes to presentation and ingredients sourcing.

If you want a fine dining experience, there are few places in the country with a profile similar to C'ville (in terms of location/population/etc) that compare. But if you just want to go out for something quick and cheap, it's pretty bad. There's only so much College Inn a person can eat.

There were a couple of Thai places on strip malls out on 29 I thought were ok--one was next to the farthest out of the 3 Krogers, I think. I actually liked Christians ok, as long as you ate it fresh at the store. I belonged to an organization that always bought it for working dinners and stuff at school, and the crust turned into cardboard by the time it made the journey.
