This is actually a legit thing among defbros. They're willing to "play along" and not defend themselves too hard against an Ineffective Assistance claim because it's no harm to them but gives their client another chance to freeroll against the gov. Part of our crime problem is how absurdly the deck is stacked in favor of criminals. An acquittal is an acquittal, but there's always a way to argue for a retrial if it's a guilty verdict.
