Q for bros who refuse to marry and have babby

Even though I personally feel good about being unmarried and childless, I hate the fact that I am the overwhelming minority in most of my circles. Like it or not, it feels strange to be "different", to not adapt to social convention.
Heck, I have acquaintances who prefer to be in a shitty as fuck relationship than having no relationship at all.
It's a real pain to be in this position, society sucks balls.

as an attorney i never made more than 60k in a year.
i absolutely hated the legal profession.
i tried teaching, but they only would pay me 37k, so i quit when i found out they wouldn't pay me more. it was also pure hell.
i tried a sales job, and i was really good at it, but they wanted people on the phone the entire day, every day, and i can't do that. so i quit, even though i performed very highly in a short period.
i then found another job that employs many former lawyers. it was probably the worst job of my life. i had to work at least 10 hours per day (in 2 separate shifts) and every single second was work. No breaks. No talking to anyone. No internet. I've never performed so much pure work in a job in my life. And any little mistake you were just reamed out. I was competent, and they were overexpanding and understaffed, so they kept piling more on me, and I finally broke down. You basically never even had a day off. Felt like it was your life. I still, when I fall asleep, dream I'm doing the job, and doing something wrong.
Anyway, so now I'm unemployed. And from prior experience, it could take quite a while to find something. Places aren't interested in hiring 37 year old former lawyers for non-law jobs; all the interviewers say they always dreamed about going to law school, and think there's something wrong with me that i'd do it, pass a hard bar, and then quit.

My metro area has at least 5 million people, so at any given time, there's going to be at least 100k+ 30/40/50/60 yr old folks who are not married.
Worrying about not finding people to hang out with in the coming years isn't even a concern of mine and should really only be a concern for those who plan on carving out a life in suburbia or a rural town. |
