My kid is 4 and has never gone to preschool how bad is this?

He goes to kindergarten the NEXT year. Wife is a SAHM, out of work teacher (because she’s on long term non paid leave but still “employed”) and she just takes care of the kids everyday (we have more than 1). We kind of “forgot” (not flame) about pre school but we definitely wanna get him in preschool before kindergarten. He does Tee ball.
No universal PreK even though my ass is bleeding from taxes. |

You need to socialize the kids and get them to learn how to do shit like sit still indian-style and make sure their motor skills are solid. A good deal of pre-K education is about this shit. If they can’t do this, they will be flagged as needing occupational therapy or being stupid.
IDK what state you are in, but if I were you, I’d do an extra year of pre-K as a five year old and then start kindergarten turning 6 in the fall, especially if the kid is a boy. There is absolutely no reason to start a boy in school before the maximum age. Schooling favors traits that take longer to develop in boys, like sitting still, listening, etc. So they will always do better if they are a bit older than the average female age. |
