I'm not too familiar with this aspect of fitness, but I don't think it would cause you to burn significantly more calories. The vast majority if the calories you burn on a daily basis is just your body maintaining homeostasis.

When I was trying to get better at running in the army, my friend made an analogy by saying that every ten pounds of weight you lose is like losing a bowling ball. That really put it into perspective for me.
