Trough is a food delivery service that removes any semblance of human decision making. Set preferences, and forget. Food couriers leave the facility with hot and ready bags. 1, 2, or 3 times a day Trough will set hot food on your porch. Don't go hungry, don't get angry. Get Trough!

This is actually shockingly plausible. Frame it as a surprise for the consumer and pitch it to restaurants as a way to make a few extra sales during slow times or to get rid of ingredients that will go bad soon. Did you order too many fish? No problem, cook it, portion it, sell it to the piglets. Piglets, enjoy your fish slop!

Trough is especially popular among college students who enjoy the low monthly price and struggle to afford traditional restaurants, but the service isn't without critics.

"I had to have onion soup and boiled potatoes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner," said Jessica Everts, 21. "They wouldn't even bring me anything else, and there were no refunds," she added.

Others received containers of uncooked rice, raw cornmeal, and even sour milk. Trough had no comment.

It's like Factor but instead of sending you a box of frozen meals to reheat it's a hot meal delivered every day. I don't care what it is just like curry or something would be fine. People are already ordering doordash 3x a day. Why split it up into different payments and make people think about what they actually want. It should just show up hot and ready at multiple intervals. I don't care if it's the same thing every day. We are NEVER going to cook for ourselves again.

I always wondered why human food (like dog or cat food) did not take off or at least be available. There have been some vaguely similar ideas

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Therapeutic_food#Ready-to-Use_Therapeutic_Food

But they are for malnutrition. Why can’t we have human kibble. Get some tech bros and fitness people to start eating it.

You can easily make a delicious stew that can feed lots of people for cheap. The only downside is that it's time consuming. Lots of cultures made stews to feed lots of people at the same time, but they always have a ton of prep work up front. For like two dollars in India you can eat stews in the slums that have been cooking for hours melting all the flavors together. You could easily turn hot stew into a delivery business. It's ultra cheap you just have to put in the work up front and make a cauldron of meat rice and vegetables with seasoning. Then charge people like 20 bucks to have it dropped off. You could sell thousands an hour all over the city. Your biggest expense are the couriers who have to drop it off but your gross income is like 20k per hour so just split it 50/50 with the drivers. All the stew selections every day are in the Trough app. Jesus give me a valuation already.

Right, but I don’t know why there’s not some sort of “human food complete” that has everything you need to survive and thrive you can eat like dry cat or dog food. The cooking time and storage on the stew is the rub. If the human food was fully nutritional it could be a substitute for meals (like the diets that had “shakes” replacing meals) if not a full diet. And boredom in eating would probably be good for those looking to lose weight.

Yes, you can get MREs or similar, but why not just one food. Surely someone has tried this at some point.
