CR other than Nashville it’s the part of the south that feels the most like the functional parts of the rest of the country (unless you count Texas as part of the South, but NC especially is more normal than TX, more genuinely charming instead of faking it while just being folksy and gossipy, and it has 1000x better weather for 70% of the year).
