Dude, take the job and work. Law school always will be there if you don't like your job and want to take a shot at it in future.
that being said, unless you go T14 law, forget law. Then again, since you are engin background, you should have a better time getting a job.
however, most lawyers are miserable as fuck in their jobs and wish they never bothered with law school. something to think about.

breakdown of options:
#1) Take eng job. You will have decent raises early on in your career and will hit 6 figures within 7-10 years. You will start to see slower raises as you get into your 30's and then will basically get "cost of living" raises (which aren't raises at all). In today's dollars, you will earn around 100-150k per year.
#2) MBA. MBA programs are not impressed by typical engineering work experience, and have many negative stereotypes about the people that accept such jobs. They would prefer banking/finance, consulting, or more business related roles like sales. So you are likely looking at a mediocre/low MBA program which might help you with a promotion or two in your company, but this type of management job promotes into middle management ~ 175-225k/yr. you would not be on track to wall st et al.
#3). LS. If you goto a top LS, you will go to a firm and get good money as an associate but probably not make partner. if you don't make partner and you end up in house, you will make apprx the same as the lower-ranked mba path above. you have better prospects in law than most because of tech background.
if you are happy living a comfortable middle class life, making somewhere in the 100's, you should just stick to engineering. its lower risk for sufficient compensation.
if you are greedy/ambitious, then you should shoot for a more business-y job right out of school (wall st or consulting ideally, corporate stuff as a backup). that will put you on track for a top mba.

Engineer, make 85k per year...low COL...save 60% of my salary. No debt. ~200k in savings. 27 years old.
#1) Sounds like a good option....low stress, make decent money, not have to worry too much about getting laid off. But top out at 100-150k per year unless I move into management, which doesn't require an MBA...
#2) 300k in lost wages + cost of schooling @ a top MBA. If I don't crack into SPACEBANKING, I basically make less than what I do right now as an MBA? Or perhaps slightly more...but not enough to justify the opportunity cost. ASSUME company won't pay for my MBA....and even if I do make it into SPACEBANKING, I basically work 80-100 hour weeks with the chance of making mad bank but hating my life?
#3) Seems like the worst option. 400k+ in lost wages + cost of schooling. Come out making maybe $125-160K. Flake out of BIGLAW in 4 years...go work in-house for 160K....be at the same spot I would be in just staying in engineering if I moved on to management...

your path is a pretty credited life choice but it reduces the chance of being a 7 figures+/year baller (or even mid 6 figures) from small to zero. you are on track to be some boring, anonymous middle management office drone with a decent house in the suburbs.
the only reason to avoid your path is if you really want to pursue said baller lifestyle by becoming biglaw partner, high level banker, hedge fund person etc which would require inordinate amounts of effort and likely self-loathing.

Yeah, seems like I'll never really have a shot at the big times going this route. Maybe a 1% chance of making over 300k per year (well, when I'm close to retirement I should be able to amass nearly 500k per year or more with regular income + investment income after saving up a few million).
But I'll never be a 7 figure baller this way, true. But I also think this is probably true if I get my MBA as well. Most MBA grads make less than I do now, obviously top MBA grads make more...but even so, most of them start out at maybe 200k in total comp first year out and they work their ass of.
Of those that start out in consulting or banking, how many actually make it to 7 figure baller status? I would guess the odds are about as good as making it to BigLaw partner...that is, pretty low. Maybe 5% shot at best.
Seems like STRIVING for that path is a big gamble.
