hi everybody,
i'm a bit confused. the discussion here says that the lsdas gpa counts the gpa from each school as equals. so, if someone would get a 3.5 in their total undergrad and a 4.0 for a community colllege in a couple of courses, they would have a lsdas gpa of 3.75. in this discussion, http://www.xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=30951&mc=9&forum_id=2, posters said that only the cumulative gpa would matter. so... the guy with a 3.5 undergrad would probably get somewhere around a 3.6 cumulative gpa and a 3.75 lsdas gpa. is this right? this is the difference between cumulative and lsdas gpa, right?

I heard when calculating lsdas gpa they weigh each school you took classes at equally. Therefore this is an easy way to inflate the gpa. In fact I was told to do this, is this even true?

They count, but once you've accumulated 60 hours, most degree-granting schools won't count the courses, and it'd probably be painfully obvious to LS's that you were trying to inflate your GPA.

Wow. I could imagine someone taking three or four CC classes to bump their gpa up... say, from 3.5-ish to 3.6 or so.
This is a really good idea.

Just as long as they were taken before you received your UG degree, then they count. You can't take them after you receive your degree to try to boost it retroactively.

i took a full year of cc classes (45 quarter credits) my senior year of high school. it helped bump up my lsdas gpa by about a tenth of a point.

The bottom line is this:
-Go to a well respected school that has serious grade inflation.
-Take an easy major and the easiest electives that you can find. This major should also have the option for you to get honors by writing a thesis of sufficient length and quality. Find a thesis advisor who is really nice, undemanding, and an easy grader. This way, it's very easy to get honors, and you are almost guaranteed several credits of A for your thesis.
-Supplement this by taking several courses at the local CC.
-When you are studying for the LSAT, take as many pass/fail courses as you can & focus almost all of your attention on the LSAT.

1) did that. go to pomona right now.
2) seriously thinking about switching to politics right now. serious grade inflation there. haven't been taking easy classes, but i guess i'll start doing that now. maybe i could up my 3.5 to 3.7 for pomona. i'll find a great thesis advisor.
3) i'll take several courses at cc.
4) taking a yr off to study for lsats and other stuff. thanks again.
