why does archeology get to have its own film genre like they're all Tall chadly adventurers but whenever a geologist makes a cameo they're scummy plot fodder.

strange. the few that i know have opposite jobs: archeologists sit still in one place doing focus work, geologists bounce around doing interesting shit. archeologists are beavers; geologists are otters.

Paleontologists are more autistic and weird than geologists. I hate to be reductive, but the work paleontologists do is useless. It's interesting, but it doesn't accomplish anything. It's the same reason why i hate astronomical geologists, they're not fucking doing anything. I'm mapping out water ground level contours and they're busy jerking their dick about seeing a ditch on Mars. Sorry, your thread made me actually mad lol

are you a licensed geologist? it seems like in cali there was so much regulatory sign off for anything construction related that those dudes could do really well performing 'soil studies', etc.
