Barbara Fried’s howling lamentations about how her Good Keed Dindu Nuffin, with a sophistication that perfectly belies the difference between harmless little white financial crimes and the violent crimes excused by most Good Keed’s moms. And her shameless heel turn from radical lefty to utilitarian Tumpmo if it tilts the odds of a pardon even slightly.

Barbara Fried’s Howling Lamentations tp

There is no way that he wasn’t guilty of all manner of accounting malfeasance and shoddiness that can reasonably be construed as criminal.

But also I’m a dedicated NoCoiner and have paid this all zero mind.

i mean he's really really ugly and jewish man

are you suggesting that the punishment didn't fit the crime in some way?

no i'm asking if you're trying to imply that imprisoning him for 25 years is somehow not an appropriate punishment for the crime of being a hideously ugly jew

i would have gone with execution personally but i'm more than satisfied that they put him away for 25

This is flame. FTX users are recovering approximately the USD value of their holdings as of the date FTX failed. They lost the opportunity to use that money over the last couple years and they lost the gains they would have made if they were paid back the full value of their coins. In other words, if you had 1000 SOL on FTX, you're not getting back what 1000 SOL is worth today. You're getting back what 1000 SOL was worth when FTX collapsed, which is a faction of that.

Hostely, the shitties part is losing transaction data. I had no money in FTX when it went down, but it caused MAJOR tax / cost basis headaches since I lost historical transaction data.

Didn't he essentially tell people their funds were being held in trust when he was really gambling with that money?

His conduct was egregious enough that it violated common law principles as well as probably like 200 laws on the books.

The gist of it is simple and very plainly criminal:

(a) FTX held itself out as an above-board crypto exchange;

(b) people entrusted FTX with their coins and cash;

(c) rather than holding onto said coins and cash, FTX spent those funds and transferred them to its affiliates (i.e., Alameda "Research") so SBF could make a series of wildly speculative and risky "investments," pay back creditors from previous, failed wildly speculative and risky "investments," make illegal political contributions, and party in the Bahamas; and

(d) inevitably, FTX/SBF got got when said wild, risky, speculative "investments" made with other people's money caught up with them and they didn't have funds to cover when those other people came calling for their coins and cash.

Notwithstanding the thousands of billable hours and thousands of pages of briefing that surely went into this case and its appeals, it's a simple matter that a 100 IQ juror could understand and vote guilty on with probably 30 minutes of evidence and testimony if you broke it down to its key elements.
