Flush out a lot of bad eggs. Party reinvents itself. Two years to remind everyone why they hate libs again.
When I joined the GOP informally in 2018 and formally in 2020, I always had a mind to reform it. Trump brought me into the party. I never would have joined without Trump. I was never a fan of George Bush, John McCain, of Mitt Romney. I was not watching Lou Dobbs or reading Breitbart. I was not politically awakened in 2016.
But I was really changed by Trump's nationalist populist message. I always thought America could be better than it was. I always thought people who hated America were losers. I believe in our exceptionalism. We have to live up to that. We have to be great. And we can do it but we need much better politicians. We can do better than this boomerslop.

I voted D not flame and then I made some horrible predictions based on historical trends. I'm guilty of not predicting the election. You got me. GOP will be back under a new banner.

I expect we'll see a lot of anti-war populists in 2028.
2024 was a referendum against wokeness and the Democrats (so far) have learned their lesson. We'll see if the GOP can do the same thing on neoconservatism.

I don't know what will happen in '28. I think politics is very sophisticated in these times. Our empire is so complicated it's hard to point to any one thing.
But last night we actually did see one element of our system manifest itself: the triumph of lunch pail issues. The economy was paramount. The yearning for the federal government to focus internally and not on ideology, not on foreign wars. This was a real meat and potatoes election. People said hey, I don't want a big construction project that ruins my neighborhood. This is the inherent benefit of individuals voting in their own self interest. It's what keeps administrators away from doing what Trump did, a bizarre pointless war on behalf of a tiny special interest group.
So to that end maybe as Millennials hit 40 something they age into their Dave Smith Libertarian era and the neocons are routed. It's interesting. McConnell is a vegetable and Graham is dead. Maybe we really are over the Bush era shit. Although I don't think that side will ever give up. They will just think up new ways to weasel into power.
What will the 28 nominee do anyways? Disavow Trump the way he disavowed Bush? At the end of the day campaigns are just propaganda. We'll have no way of knowing they won't flip for the Adelsons as soon a they're sworn in. Odds on the Dems take back the White House because people will just be so sick of MAGA by that point. Although you never can tell what will happen.

By the same token someone will run as literally Hitler. So we'll get George P Bush on one side saying brown is beautiful and a Fuentes type on the other saying Heil Hitler.

trump served his purpose and was good in some ways, not so good in others, but the nation has changed a lot in 10 years. 2024 was a referendum against wokeness, and now we're going to have a reign of terror of anti-whiteness, which will be the new woke. listen to the things coming out of the mouth of the senator-elect from michigan, who really represents the direction things are going in. a different kind of race war is coming and it's not the one the accelerationists were hoping for. it's fashionable to be vocally anti-white, anti-christian, anti-jewish; soon it will be institutional, if it wasn't already.
gop has been pigeonholed as the party of white people and the democrats are savvy enough to know that in a country where almost everyone is of some kind of mixed heritage, that's a very shrinking, irrelevant identity. being the party of "everyone else" is like 70% of the population.

This is correct. Good analysis. That being said I would rather the opposition party be full throated in their defense of traditional white America than whatever inclusive nonsense MAGA became. Nick called all of this. He had it dead to rights.
The one thing we can control now is whether white nationalism controls the future of the GOP. Let the 70% nons be on one side even if dominant. But every single elected Republican must be a groyper. Groypers have to take the wheel so everybody knows if these people win here's what's coming.

the counterpoint to this is the progressives won by significantly slimmer margins than the roy coopers (and progressives were generally running in more D-leaning states to begin with). this time around it literally did not matter who was running, a democrat was going to win, but the neo-clintonites had a much better showing than woke 3.0 bros

They were just smart enough to pivot away from the woke insanity for 6 months long enough to not freak everyone out. Sayed was supposed to win by 10 points and only won by a couple because people were freaked out. It's touch and go. They could screw this up again with relative ease.

the message from last night is this: with jews, you lose. democrats have at least started to distance themselves from israel. look how they did. trump has embraced israel, gone after "antisemitism" in america, started a war for israel. look how his party did.
