Yes, almost as good as a 25 yr old provided you have had a relatively steady career in something up to that point and a decent story for why you now are in law school. For example, you were in some business job moving up the ladder, interacted with the company's outside counsel every so often and found their work interesting. If your resume is all over the place it won't work.

you need to figure out a better way to resolve what sounds like a midlife crisis. i’m 5 year’s younger than you, did two years of biglaw and never looked back. biglaw is soul crushing at any age. i can’t imagine what it’d be like as a 38 year old signature page monkey

i left biglaw after two years because it felt like being perpetually water boarded dude. your logic here (lemme spend 200k + 3years to do the very worst white collar work bc i wrongly think all white collar work sucks) makes me hope, for your sake, that you won’t be smart enough to even have the option to become a biglawyer

just do that then. even if you made biglaw, given the cost of attending and the missed income for 3 years, you'd at best break even in your early 40's... and that's if you get biglaw (who knows what the economy will be like in 3 years)... if you don't get biglaw then you are in a worse position financially and have a more stressful career than snapping photos.

38 is too old to just be starting out as a biglaw 1st year. Why would you want to deal with all the bullshit associates deal with from the age of 38 until you're like 46?

That said, only do this if you can't even imagine doing anything else with your life, are incredibly passionate about, and believe you have the talent necessary to stick it out (biglaw) for the long haul.

Well, this assumes he's taking on debt. Probably 20-30% of all law students graduate with little/no debt.

Wow. Make $175-$300K for ages 38-45 and then make $500K plus after 45 to do bs paperwork. Sounds 180. Much better than a welder who will already be retired and broke.
