1) The game is at Reliant, and UT got to sell about 90% of the tickets. Games at Reliant are basically home games in H to recruit all the Houston 5-star kids. We played at Reliant in 2006, and Rice only sold tickets to one section of the stadium, while UT sold out the ENTIRE PLACE.
2) Even when the games have been at Rice Stadium (which hasn't been for a while IIRC), the fans have been 75% or more UT fans. Hell, when the games are at Baylor, it's 75% UT fans.

Date: September 2nd, 2010 10:32 AM Author: Yapping pale mexican UCLA was 10-2 when we signed them up in 2005. We had a two-game series with Utah scheduled for 2008/2009, but they backed out because they realized they were in the running for a BCS bowl, and didn't want to risk it.
We just had a home and home with tOSU a few years ago, and we're not going to have any games against top tier SEC teams because we don't want to give them any help in Texas recruiting. |

Date: September 2nd, 2010 10:39 AM Author: Yapping pale mexican I explained this year's selection. We're playing UCLA in two weeks. They were better when we signed up to play them. They're still a decent team from a big conference, and it'll be a fun game to be at.
We play some combination of Rice/UTEP/UNT/SMU every year. They're historical rivals from SWC and whatnot, and almost every elite team plays regional shitschools. Wyoming was a last minute deal to fill the Utah hole. I have no idea why we're playing UCF. |
