But I think you are too narrowly focusing on the cause and effect relationship. It's true that I thought this guy was a SJW community activist, from the OP. But pretty much every liberal contributes to the situation in this article, including all of the people you know in academia. This is because they actively sweep these kinds of events under the rug.
If they highlighted them, as they should, there'd be a lot more focus on violent black crime. I'd think that this increased public awareness would lead to tougher sentencing, and more of these people being locked away.

Not sure where in the area he lived before but they say he moved to this block about a year ago. So, this isn't a guy who moved to a black neighborhood for virtue-signaling purposes, etc. He is one of a very large number of white people who have moved into that area in recent years, probably for the same reason most people with families move to the edge of gentrification -- they want to be in a "hip" urban neighborhood but can't afford enough space anywhere but at the edge of gentrification. Also, I don't know anything about this guy, but being involved on a development board in a neighborhood like this isn't necessarily an indicator of shitlibism. Often these groups are primarily concerned with things like putting together anti-crime neighborhood watch groups, trying to lure businesses into the neighborhood, etc.
So this isn't really the story XOers are taking it for in this thread, about an activist who moved to the hood for shitlib purposes. It's just a very sad, but fairly typical "crime on the edge of gentrification" story. |
