Wrong shitlib. Its the #1 food in the world. This Chef's Table Pizza episode is so fucking 180 and it inspired me to make my own pizzas. I make my own dough.
It inspired my Chicken Enchilada pizza where I use refried beans and green enchilada sauce as the base, topped with sour cream after its done cooking.
Episode starts off with a food critic saying, "People think I'm crazy when I tell them the best pizza in the world isn't in Italy; its in Arizona."
The segment on Gabriele Bonci was especially profound.

this is very wrong. pizza might have one of the widest quality ranges of any food. can be absolute trash or extremely good / michelin star territory based on ingredients and cooking equipment.
makes sense because it can be produced cheaply (and badly), so there are many bad iterations of it (see bowling alley pizza / arena pizza out of the microwave) in contrast to all the really good old school joints that have perfected it and have classic ovens that you're not even allowed to install anymore
maybe what you're getting at is that shit like dominos is perfectly fine and "artisanal" pizza is flame, which is true. but that's a narrower and different point.

With both burgers and pizza the entire issue is ingredient quality. The meat at a fast food burger place is always poisonous garbage seasoned with literal cow shit. It tastes good because the food scientists in Jersey worked for years to perfect the right blend of additives to trick your brain that it tastes good. And when you look at the ingredients it just says “100% USDA inspected beef” because they spent hundreds of millions lobbying for years to get away with that schtick. Then you look at the ingredients for the bun and it’s a hilarious frankenfood concoction. The same is true of the cheese, sauce and dough at Domino’s, but they aren’t as gross as the meat at any major fast food chain.
I say all this as a guy that has eaten at least 250 fast food burgers per year for the last 15 years at least and who regularly orders Domino’s and feeds it to his kids. The frankenfood is cheap and my kids eat healthy meals M-Fri and at least 2/3 meals that my wife or I prepare every Sat and Sun. I should eat less fast food, but I take a demented pleasure in eating shit food and not being obese, being reasonably strong/fit/active for a guy my age, and having good cardiovascular health. It’s like if God gave you a superpower you should not let it go to waste. Plus it’s so cheap and so much easier than adding even more cooking/meal prep to my schedule. But lately I’ve been better and the difference in how I feel and my energy levels is dramatic, so it’s time to stop eating like I’m in college finally.

It really is insane and i say this as a pizza lover.
As long as they are using quality ingredients, it all comes down to subjective preference. Some people like thin, crispy crust while others like it more doughy or not as well-done.
Somehow, it's an extremely divisive topic and people will argue passionately in favor of their preferred pizzeria.
