To wit Boris Yeltsin's grandfather was a Kulak and he was able to get away with lying about it. Realistically it was impossible to kill everyone who didn't like the State. And then you have subsequent generations who grow up and have their own opinions.
I think it's something much more endemic than it was Soviet action. Russia sucked in the 18th and 19 centuries too. I like the pumos theory that the aristocrats were living in the first world but everyone else was a caveman. Makes more sense than Stalin killed everybody with a brain. He killed lots of people but many more weren't killed. |
