Yes, if you are 5'6". But the average poaster is 6'4" and really should be hitting splits around 1:35 (assuming too busy with work and banging models to really focus on training, no longer quite in the shape he was when he played a little college ball and walked on to the varsity crew in the spring).

I’ve started using the rowing machine as a warmup and do a 10-min 2k, gonna try to sprint it and see what I can get

32. That will move up but I need to lose 10lbs. Have been doing sprints and lots of steady state but cardio just isn’t there yet.

32-34 is considered optimal though for a free-rate 2k so you're pretty well in the zone

Read right over that. You’re focused on power or are you not up to pulling at a higher rate for a full 2k?

And what split are you shooting for?

it's just a different benchmark I guess. It's easier psychologically to do rate-capped pieces earlier in the season. A true all-out free-rate 2k is a really demanding thing and I haven't done any speed work lately. I will try to hold 1:36-1:37s in the body and see if I can hang on for the last 500

We used to do 1k at 24-26spm as proxy for 2k pace but never a rate-capped 2k. I'll have to try it.

4x2k @ r24 with 5 minutes rest between reps was a staple workout on my team, and you really got mentally used to ticking off 2ks and hanging out close to the red line without going over. Think my best for that was around 1:38.x average split

I let the rate creep up slightly so was more of a r24-25. I forgot how much 2ks fuckin hurt, even capped ones...
