Pretty much the downside and the upside there. Also, the sweet location should be emphasized, though I'm not giving that away. Exit options aren't so crappy, though. I can work for pretty much any firm in the area when I'm done this.

Eh, I know too many ex-clerks with that background who couldn't get shit after their clerkships. Look, a job is only as awesome as what comes from it. I find it pretty unlikely that anything awesome will come of this. But the job is easy so it isn't a 125-130. But that is some terrible money.

You might get lucky. I didn't have a law job upon graduation, but got this right after I took the bar. Things happen and ITE makes you re-evaluate what's really important.

It's sort of a "grass is always greener on the other side" thing. My friends in BIGLAW are jealous of my life and I'm jealous of their pay.

To be honest, I need actual cash so I'm not even looking at these kind of jobs. I would make more money in a variety of non-legal areas that I have a good background for, so I would rather just leave law entirely if possible. Other than that, I would at least want a job that could lead to something good even if short term pay kind of sucks.

Oh, I believe it. The scale is all relative. I'm rating along the matrix of possible legal jobs - with 180 being partner at an awesome firm with huge book of business and 120 being working for free or in a paralegal gig or something. Median salary in law is what, $90kish? This is significantly below that. But your hours are lower so I rated it higher. Then I added more points for ITE. Result is a 147, I think.

The fact that even prestigious people are applying for 147 jobs these days doesn't really change that it is a 147 job.

i worked 2-3 days a week compared to ur 5 days a week. i could also be flexible and choose my days, not to mention on holidays like mother's day i make 500 cash.

i knew the owner so i didn't do any remedial stuff like cleaning or end-of-night cleanup.

i got to hit on hot chicks that walked into the restaurant.

got to sleep with 3 waitresses during my stay there.

I actually thought someone might respond with this. In a way it is, but as a law clerk it's not the same. The only person I'm serving is my judge and he's great. There's actually very little interaction between us two. This is very, very different than other service jobs, such as waiting. Definitely not "just as bad" (at least in my case).
