These women were using tonics and other concoctions to kill perform abortions. Obviously, any woman caught for performing such deeds would be seen as a literal witch because she's using potions and stuff to kill babies. The elders of the village rightly came to the conclusion that these women had to be killed so that this knowledge of potions, etc couldn't spread. |
