Seems pretty clear they can't get the votes for Medicaid cuts, and Rep. Roy seems to be suggesting that the House conservatives may be willing to accept fewer spending cuts if the Trump tax cuts aren't made permanent.
I don't see why Trump would object to that- he doesn't care what happens to this country after he is gone. So he should be fine with making the tax cuts only last for four years or so. |

"permanence" for tax cut purposes just makes it a negotiating tactic in x number of years.
while it's easier to let a tax cut "expire" (see Obama making most of Bush's tax cuts permanent but letting the top rate go back up 2 points), at the end of the day Joe Sixpack only cares about whether there is a hike or not, and of course most would probably not even notice if you increased their withholding a bunch and then gave them a big "refund" |

If Trump really didn't care about America, why would he voluntarily start a ridiculously unpopular and politically risky trade war with the entire world based on a long-term plan for restructuring US treasuries?
