Technology will get better of course so it will be better in that sense...but things like unemployment, work hours, health care, etc. will continue to deteriorate). Long term, like 20 years from now obviously it will increase. Depends on how quickly the new powers like China and India can get their citizens up to speed, and how quickly the new hot outsourcing locations like Vietnam and Bangladesh can match our standard of living

now that demand from our country is just about tapped out where is the demand going to come from to move things along so quickly? they've been paying people in emerging markets awful wages (that was the whole point) so they don't have the money to consume and replace american demand. those investing in foreign countries will soon learn this and things will move much, much more slowly. this process could take a very, very long time. where the heck is the demand going to come from? it'll exist but it's going to be much less. |

plus, companies are already starting to head into africa now, sensing that things in china and india are getting too good. as i said, absent some policy changes this could take forever if it happens at all. |
