But, I do know they were aiming to take one only from CLS.

I think so. Obviously the dude who has a 4.0 is better positioned than the guy with a 3.7 who let his grades slide, but the latter has still demonstrated the ability to out perform the vast majority of his classmates. Also, it's pretty easy to chalk up a bad 1st or 2nd semester to "not getting it" or "foolishly messing with a winning formula," respectively.

Just people who are close to Stone or right above it, probably within 3.2-3.6 range. Stone 1L is considered the cutoff to getting a job through OCI. These are the people who are under the most stress right now, I would think. The laziest people I know are the ones who want to do PI after graduation or have gigs they are headed back to.

I hear you on the slacking. Maybe it's just taking two absolutely useless classes (ConLaw and Crim) in the same semester.

I figure there's a good chance of running into some property issues in practice and it's something friends and family usually want to know about, so that class is less useless than the other two. ConLaw is by far my most hated, though.

Using a 3.26 median/mean and assuming normal distribution and 3.41 = top 30%, here's a list of GPAs and the corresponding percentiles in the approximated 1L curve.

3.9 = top 1%

3.85 = top 2%

3.8 = top 3% (Kent)

3.75 = top 4%

3.7 = top 6%

3.65 = top 8%

3.6 = top 11%

3.55 = top 15%

3.5 = top 20%

3.45 = top 25%

3.41 = top 30% (Stone)

3.35 = top 37%

3.3 = top 45%

3.26 = Median

3.2 = top 58%

3.15 = top 66%

3.1 = top 72%

3.05 = top 77%

3.0 = top 82%
