Why don’t minorities shoplift at Home Depot?

Anti theft badges on anything expensive and doors have those detectors that beep if the badges aren’t removed.
Meanwhile Home Depot is like an irl 90s utopia, almost nothing is locked up (except the higher end electronics that you need assistance with). There’s tons of stuff just sitting on the shelf that’s worth hundreds of dollars in some cases, in a very small form factor.
Is it because there’s no secondary markets to flip the HD merchandise into cash? Or because you need a dad to tell you about Home Depot, so they simply aren’t aware of it’s existence? |
