We don't take fancy vacations, our kids will be in public school, etc., but we're fine with that. I guess it also helps that we grew up as poors so we don't have unreasonably high standards to begin with. |

Basically, if she is making nothing and you're making a ton then you are much better off filing jointly because each bracket will be about twice as big (until you get to high levels, at which point the marriage penalty returns). The result is that you'll pay much lower taxes.
