Big state flagships imo are ascendant and I’ve been impressed by the graduates, they’re definitely not on the same tier as grads of TTT private schools. Part of what made a place like Harvard (or Williams to use a LAC example) prestigious is that was where prestigious people went. Well-rounded. Old money. Really smart kids, occasionally. I always thought it was a mistake to force colleges to base admissions solely on grades and standardized testing.
