anyone i've ever known who lived in new haven came to love it. it's a really cool smaller city. great restaurants and bars, and lots of cultural offerings due to the university (yale dramat, peabody museum, yale university art gallery)
i'd pick new haven over a lot of much larger cities
oh also everything is very conveniently located in the downtown area, which makes going out a lot easier (my friends who wentt to harvard said it's sometimes hard to convince a bunch of people to take the T to boston for example) |

Cambridge/Boston is amazing. Cleaner/less expensive/less change of getting mugged than NYC. NYU > Columbia since Columbia is way too near the ghetto. Georgetown > Hyde Park Palo Alto/Charlottesville/Ann Arbor are too far away but pleasant little places. Berkeley is FULL of dirty homeless hippies. Cornell/Penn/Yale/Duke are self-explanatory. |

Wtf are you talking about? Harvard Square's a fun area and slightly cheaper than New York, but there's a ton of petty crime, far more than you'll find in Morningside Heights. One of my friends' boyfriends got mugged (and he was 6'2"), someone else I knew had her car broken into, and there was a rash of random street gropings. Has Cambridge dramatically cut down on crime in the last few years? |

Furthermore, we're talking about like a working-class white neighborhood in the rest of Cambridge as opposed to, well... Harlem. I've never felt unsafe walking around the Harvard area, while I almost always look over my shoulder once you hit upper Manhattan. |
