wd be v tough with your stats, bro. and generally speaking, any gig's a year away, which doesn't do you much good. you could probably land an intermediate appellate court in NJ or NY, but that's pretty ttt, and not sure what doors that'd really open for you.

firms will realize you're trying to trade up to more sophisticated work. if you're concerned, you can always leave it off, but your resume, as is, hasn't done much for you to date.

i'd put it on, "2010-present." for all they know you've been there since january. resume's just to get an interview. explain the trade-up rationale once you're speaking with someone in hiring authority. i suspect, however, you'll be looking for a long while before the next opportunity presents.

You are assuming you have another 8 months of unemployment.

Judging by the last extension, unemployment might not be extended again

Yea, I think the Republican opposition last time was election posturing.

The next expiration date is late November, so by then I think an extension is likely.

But still, you never know.

It'll probably be extended. But then again, no action on those who have exhausted 99 weeks, and the COBRA subsidy is gone. So who knows.

There are some rumblings for another tier (so beyond 99 weeks) of UE, since the number of 99ers is growing. I think some congresswoman introduced legislation on it, but it's not expected to go anywhere.

But if unemployment keeps rising (as I expect) and the long-term unemployed grow in number (basically a certainty), they might consider extending beyond 99 weeks

I was a third and I got something (of course I got lucky).

a lot of it depends on what you are holding out for if anything, but I dont know anyone from Latham who has been looking and hasn't found anything since last march.

Do you know if you can draw unemployment if you move to another state?

If I didn't have any other attachments I'd probably move to a much lower COL area.

You think you would have landed your CA gig had you not moved to LA, i.e., kept applying from NY? I'm licensed in CA, too, and think I'm getting shunned in part because I'm on the East Coast still.

no you are right that makes a diff. even strategic decisions to spend the $$$ to fly out to long shot interviews.

I was thinking more live in long island and take the train the NYC when I need to.

Yea, I dunno what to do about that. I'm in no position to move to Cali right now. Who the hell would rent to someone with no income/job prospects, anyway?

What does NY pay? $425 or so/wk? His rent's $1150, so that's doable, if far from ideal.

You are preaching to the converted. I'm unemployed yet moving up to the Bay Area (probably highest COL after NYC) next week.

But if I was single and could otherwise draw down unemployment, I'd probably go live in Nevada or some shit

food and loans and shit.

obviously it's doable, but I would have moved home long before then - if it was an option.
