It's going to be shit like modding Cloud's buster sword into the game. In OG Oblivion, I had shitloads of new towns and quests modded in to really fill out the emptier parts of the map, tons of new enemy types, way more active roads, shitloads of extra quests, whores who would suck you off on command, etc. I doubt anything near that scope is going to be possible. Or technically possible eventually, but the number of people who can do it without tools will be extremely limited. It's going to be more like the mod scene for FF7 Remake or Cyberpunk than OG Oblivion.

I’ll give this a shot at some point a while from now if they’ve fixed the enemy level scaling. After playing the Game of the Generation (Kingdom Come Deliverance 2) not sure I have that appetite for another open world game this year.

I don't have a current gen console or a gaming rig. My plan was to get something when TES6 comes out. Maybe even skip this console gen entirely.

This release is tempting me. This might screw up my plans to just wait a few more years for TES6.

-On an overclocked 5090, 4K every setting fully maxed with DLAA, it runs in the 50s in the overworld. Framegen bumps that up to 110ish. Dropping down from DLAA to DLSS quality brings it to 150

-Game looks great...like you REMEMBER Oblivion looking (its PC visuals were elite for the time), although not as good as one would think given that it strains a 5090. Only really bad thing is lack of HDR which is mandatory for high-end visuals.

-Combat is nice, feels a lot better than the original without being a large departure...EXCEPT that your health fucking regenerates like you're in a Halo game. That concession to "modern audiences" really pissed me off.

-UI is shit and somehow more console-centric than the original. They would have picked up HUGE goodwill reverting to Morrowind's grid-based inventory. And despite further consolizing the UI, they didn't add a character view where you can drag and drop equipment onto slots.

-I got sad when I went into the imperial city. At first it was amazing to see all the old shops remade, but the streets just feel lifeless and desolate without mods. Doesn't help that I'm midway through a Cyberpunk replay intended to flex the 5090 and knock out Phantom Liberty. I'll probably put this on ice for 6-12 months and hope someone puts out a comprehensive overhaul mod. Vanilla oblivion doesn't hold a candle to this:

I'm playing one difficulty harder than default and it's tuned well. At lvl 1, things like solo goblins and mudcrabs are a threat to kill you, as it should be.
