the current one?

lol.

I don't think his veganism bothers me as much as his inability to handle spicy food. It's the one thing that truly makes us incompatible food wise.

Right now, it's a lot of the healthier indian dishes I mentioned on the other thread. A dish called dopalam (sp?) that's based on a seasonal gourd, is very spicy (minus red chili for him), and has a touch of jaggery. It's a favorite recipe I got from my grandmother and I'm happy he loves it. He eats enough lentils, so it's not a special meal. I make great lentils tho.

I just linked this dish:

http://www.suite101.com/content/ulava-charu-horse-gram-soup-a56138

which I haven't had in years. I plan to make it for him this week.

Once he at least starts eating dairy and getting tubby we'll get more interesting. For example, I'm a big fan of deep frying things and then dumping them in plain whole milk yogurt. Thinly sliced eggplant that's been heavily salted is good for this.

Steamed broccoli with butter goes sooo well with steak and other meaty things. I don't know how to make roast beef, actually. It's delicious when I get it in restaurants.

Every thanksgiving I do this corn salsa thing with canned corn, cucumbers, jalapenos and cilantro + lime juice. It's good with baked fish but TMF makes the fish so that's not really my dinner.

it sounds good but it is not the kind of thing that i would usually eat. if it is a signature dish, it's always good to give a dood!

this reminds me of this weird religious restaurant that i went to once that had "bacon of the sea" somehow made out of salmon.

this is actually pretty credited. i'd add some sauteed mushrooms and find a way to incorporate blue cheese, too. maybe just a chunk of it before or after the meal.

TMF says chicken quesadillas are my signature dish. It's embarrassing because it doesn't really involve a lot of skill but everyone loves it when I make them so I guess I have to go with that. When his parents come over they always ask me to make it too.

I marinade the chicken in cholula and a little bit of olive oil+salt for a few hours. Than chop into very small pieces and fry it up with some paprika and whatever else I have on hand. Otherwise just good cheddar cheese and fresh chopped tomatoes, onions and lettuce. I don't know why people like it so much, there's nothing special that I really do.

I might even be a little offended. I think I make better dishes but that's what everyone likes best.

lol that sounds really good i think it might steal your recipe! here's how i make a quesadilla: take a flour tortilla, put shredded cheese and spinach, fold. put it in the microwave for 40 seconds and add tabasco sauce. it's soooo good and takes less than 2 minutes to prepare.

I used to microwave cheese quesadllas. It's good and definitely super fast. I use low carb tortillas now though so they need to be baked. They never taste right unless they're toasted.

Marinating chicken in cholula works for everything btw. I use it in all my Italian dishes and everything. The cholula taste isn't noticeable once you fry it up, it just tenderizes the chicken nicely.

yeah. I make so many complicated things, but I once made a dip of smoked salmon, cream cheese, yogurt, water, and chopped parsley. It was gone in like ten seconds and everyone is always asking me to make it.

If it were a man other than my own?

Probably slow roasted rack of lamb with high quality ev olive oil, either with

1. a relish of seeded pomogranate (yes it can be done) chopped fresh mint, pomogranate mollasses/juice, lemon juice, cumin, salt, black pepper, and a few other things.

or

2. dry rub of white cumin, green cardomom, cloves, jaggery, garlic, ginger, red chili, ground almonds, sesame seed

Depending on what I go with, a side of deep fried salty eggplant left overnight in whole milk yogurt at room temp, a parsley salad, a tomato salad, fried lentil/bulgur balls, fresh cheese and olive oil for dipping, parathas, simple sliced avocado, etc.

Remember that the meal must leave the man ready for a night of loving.

yes, i love it. exquisite fried in butter until crispy then poured over gnocchi. also, i was raised on mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, etc.

it can be quite cloying when added to foods dried, though.

I only started learning how to cook in middle school home ec. At one point I only knew how to make pepperoni and cheese roll ups and boiled eggs. Also this orange sherbert with orange soda thing. They really fed us crap in home ec.
