Personally I would probably choose another story -- from the New Testament -- and focus on that. Probably the good servant or the prodigal son? Casting the first stone? Something that develops character rather than just scares a little kid. The fact that you dont say anything about "why" I'm *wrong* either as a parent or theologically tells me you dont really want to engage and are just trolling. FWIW I happen to have a pretty good understanding of Christian theology for a layperson, and I am bible literate and have frequently reflected on the teachings there as wisdom literature. I actually studied the bible in depth in school in several classes, and minored in religious studies. As a trial lawyer, I find the Bible to provide a wealth of material helpful in forming narratives for my clients as well.

You insult me if you assume I dont know about how some forms of Christianity make the sacrifice of Isaac a key component in the sacrifice story of Christ. I know and understand that very well. But that aspect of Christianity was not what I was talking about in the post you find so objectionable for inarticulate reasons--I was talking about what stories from the Bible I could see myself going over with my son and discussing with him. That would be obvious from anyone reading my post with a modicum of good faith.

I've had a bunch of conversations with the kid about faith vs. knowledge and why he shouldn't have to feel like he needs proof to believe in god and yada yada yada. Kierkegaard is all about that and has this very cool idea of faith as belief in the absurd.

I mean, it goes without saying its Christian indoctrination coming from dad along with what I believe to be a harmful setting aside of analytical thought (setting aside of "proof" requirement) but if doing that develops your bond with him then I'm certainly not going to tell you how to raise him. I'd probably emphasize the importance of having evidence to support beliefs in any other context or something like that at least.
