AMEX just canceled my cards... wtf?

I'm pissed. I used to love them but I wasn't delinquent on any payments or anything. Has this happened to anyone else? |

I said I had BIGLAW coming and asked if they really wanted to terminate our relationship right before I was about to make [hopefully and what I played up to be] a ton of money, but the woman obviously couldn't have cared less.
I think because I'm out of law school with a ton of debt and currently no income my debt to income ratio was too high for them to want to keep on. They lowered my one friend's credit recently, for no reason, but she at least got to keep her card. |

The good news is that if you are careful, reduce your debt, go some more distance between the delayed payment, your score will go up. At 7 years, it gets erased from your record. |

Charged about $1000 for a trip and all of a sudden they emailed me to say my credit line was cut to $1100. In other words, they totally cut me off--made the limit my current balance + $100. I called to complain but they wouldn't do anything nor would they say why they'd cut my limit.
They absolutely suck. I have several credit cards, one with a $50,000 limit, and I keep the balances low on all of them and pay them all on time. No reason to cut my credit at all. |
