why do you always troll for hbs? it's a good school, but you don't even have to be particularly bright to get in there.

go back and read the title of my thread. it's a "prestige" ranking, not a ranking of schools by the average intelligence of the students. HBS may not have the smartest people, but it is the most versatile degree and opens doors all across the world, that very few schools can match. among lay people, it's super prestigious, and its graduates make the most money out of all the harvard schools.

"most versatile" does not necessarily mean most prestigious. the two things are often completely divergent.

people in elite circles are way more impressed by someone who went to HBS than someone who did harvard undergrad.

yeah, i'm sure someone at a major private equity firm would be more impressed by a harvard college alum who majored in history than a HBS grad.

not going to rank the grad. (academic) programs--they're all over the board; you can't group them all under one heading.

ROFL at your egregious harvard undergrad trolling! most harvard college graduates get mediocre jobs or go to decent grad programs while HBS graduates make on average $125K straight out of school and make way more down the line.

HBS and HLS before HMS? ROFLMAOTYVMFTLOLOLOL

1. HMS

2. College/GSAS PhD

3. Law

4. Biz

:::GAP:::

5. Dental

6. KSG

7. Divinity

8. Public Health (really specialized--i think you need to be either enrolled in a MD program or already have a MD in order to enter this program)

9. Design

10. GSAS MA/MS

11. Ed (masters--Ed.D. would be somewhere around dental)

KSG, divinity, public health, and design are all more or less interchangeable, IMHO

harvard college '06 here.

OP is a fucking buffoon who clearly did not go to harvard or any comparably decent school. he probably spends his free time masturbating to the HBS homepage while reading the wall street journal.

undergrads at harvard did not regard HBS that highly because the quality of students there are not that amazing. i know plenty of people who got into HBS with around 3.5 gpa in econ, low 700's GMAT, and a few years of work experience at a bulge bracket bank or consulting firm. there are definitely uber impressive people who go there, but they're in the minority and not reflective of the overall HBS student body. on the other hand, we had serious respect for HMS, which is tough as shit to get into, even for harvard undergrads. even more respect for MD/Phd at HMS/MIT and also Phd students in math/economics/hard science.

it's respectable. great if you want to go into public policy, international NGO work, maybe think tanks. it's not as intellectually rigorous as other IR schools like johns hopkins SAIS or princeton's woodrow wilson school.

HLS, HBS, and HC have the halo

HMS is harder to get into than any of them and has a bit less of the halo (doesn't dominate popular culture and news like the first three).

The rest bask in the light of the others.
