4th yr MIDLAW, 700-800k portable business, shit grades ---->

decent - good business lit and general corp. experience at an avg midlaw shop in a sub-secondary city.

so - how high can i reach? can i reach up to a V50 firm? i think the basic problem is that alot of biglaw firms have a strict academic floor w/r/t new attys and laterals... |

Leasing office space isn't that much unless he is in Manhattan on 5th avenue in the 50's, and law malpractice insurance is nowhere near what med mal is. Support staff..ie paralegals and junior lawyers? Are you fucking kidding me? Outsource to India all but the most important things he has to do himself, he can basically make money for doing nothing since strict ABA regulations still require an American lawyer. That's called ARBITRAGE my counselor friend.
Plus there are a load of other benefits to having his own firm like writing off pracitically everything. There is no question if has this kind of business, he would make far more on his own. |
