I've visited UCSB a couple times so I only have a little knowledge of grad student life, but it seems like they live much like the ugrads. For example, isla vista (a residential area where a lot of parties take place) is heavily populated by graduate students. Frats also seemed to have a strong showing of grad students. Outside that, i'm not sure. |

UCSB has perhaps the hottest girls in the nation - or if not is high in the running. no flame. it sits on a beautiful point overlooking the pacific ocean with a beach for sunbathing chicks right below it. isla vista is a nonstop party if you're smart enough not to get arrested by the foot patrol. santa barbara itself is quaint but full of bars and close to LA and the central coast/hills/national parks if you need city/nature getaways. it may be the single most credited university experience in the nation if you ignore the lack of BIG D1 FOOTBALL.
but bag it up. most of those sluts have the herp. |

It has a well regarded science department (had some Nobel prize winners in recent years) and the alumni stick together. I went to UCSB for undergrad and to a T-14 for law school, and I swear UCSB has come up in more interviews than my T-14. Gauchos stick together. People who went to UCSB like to hire other UCSB grads. Period. Gauchos are known as smart, but laid back. Way better to work with than neurotic Ivy Leaguers. Also, Gauchos can easily handle social situations (see: rain making) better than many other schools where students are more book worms. I have even been selected by partners for projects simply because I was a Gaucho.
Plus, the social scene is amazing. Lots of outdoor activities and great nightlife. Live downtown where all the grad students live. |
