The best advice I can give is to take a good course such as powerscore or testmasters. I didn't find the lessons themselves that helpful but all of the material and the fact that it makes you study on a regular schedule really helped motivate me as I'm a lazy fuck and need all the motivation I can get. It helped me go from a 158 to 169 on my second try.

That's not so bad. If you get a 170+ on the LSAT, the top 14 is within reach. If you do well but not quite that well, you could get into a lot of semi-national Tier 1 schools.

this time around it seems to be a little tougher than usual with a high LSAT / low GPA.

If you look on LSN (http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com) you can get a general sense of what's going on.

170/3.3 is generally considered a splitter-- traditionally this would get you into at least one of the T14, but my experience (in applying late) is that you will get on a lot of waitlists and holds.

If you have good WE you should be in at NU.

At first I thought that it was a gimmick, but since NU takes the higher LSAT, they would treat my numbers as _______ with little/no WE. Result: waitlist.

Yea, I interviewed. It was nice but a bit weird since I showed up in sandals and a t-shirt while the other interviewees were meandering about in suits and ties.

I've seen a few other high LSAT / sub 3.0 applicants get into NU, so it shouldn't be impossible. 50 hours per week is a lot, hopefully they do something with that.

Actually if you look at LSN, I think it is soemwhat better then last year. I saw a couple of people with 3.1 g.p.a's but 177 LSAT's get into CCN and other top 14 schools. Although these few examples do not disprove what you are saying, I remember seeing many low g..a/high LSAT eople getting into at least 1 top 14 if not more. In any event, I think you would agree with me as most people on this board would that it is ALWAYS better to have a low g.p.a/high LSAT split then vice versa, no?
