once they start looking dull. first time you take them tell the guy that it's the first time and that they've never been polished before.

no. just brush the dirt off your shoes with the brush. then load your brush with a bit of polish and apply it to the shoe evenly without really polishing. while that dries, do the same to the other shoe. then really go at them with the brush until they shine. likewise, you can use the shoe cream. that involves wiping the shoes with a damp towel and then rubbing in a cream that you can get online or in the store. then apply a small amount of kiwi wax, if you want. you don't need edge dressing on the soles, it clumps and chips and looks shitty - just use wax.

no, you rub it on let it sit for like 30 seconds and wipe it off

plus its not acidic enough to eat through thick leather

horse hair shoe brush + kiwi wax. that's all you need. maybe a wet towel if they're really dirty.

shoe cream is better for the leather than wax polish, although wax will give you a better shine.

Many people will polish with shoe cream 2-3 times for every one time with wax polish

edit: also, you need a polish applicator - the brush is just for buffing after the polish dries. I usually use old, worn out sport socks

yeah. cream is ok every once in a while. believe me, you don't need a separate applicator.

(1) take out the laces

(2) wipe them down with a damp cloth or paper towel

(3) apply conditioner, then leave them to dry for 10 minutes

(4) apply polish (I prefer creams to wax), then leave them to dry for 10 minutes

(5) use a soft cloth (or a horse hair brush then a soft cloth) to polish them

(6) apply edge dressing (if needed)

I use Allen Edmonds conditioner, Alden shoe cream, and Kiwi wax (there is better stuff out there, but it's expensive and arguably unnecessary). You can get polishing cloths, edge dressing and horse-hair brushes from a number of sources.

don't use edge dressing. completely unnecessary and it chips off and looks really shitty after a while. kiwi wax is perfectly acceptable. polishing clothes and all that other shit is unnecessary as well. brush + wax is all you really need.
