I haven't worked long enough to have a good idea of the "average" hours, and in corporate "average" tends to be extremely variable in any case. I go in fairly late, and get back late but not so late that I can't find friends to have dinner and/or drinks with me. Sometimes I have to put in some time during the weekends. Overall, it's not too bad, though I didn't expect too much.

It's hard to count, actually. It's either "a rough week" or "not so bad". There's considerably more than a 5 hour difference between the two.

no, I just printed out the map, circled the schools I wanted to look at (since on the map they are just given numbers) and then took a pencil and outlined the most logical course.

sometimes you get fee-waivers.

My mom is coming with me as well. I could have told her no, but it will be nice when she pays for lunch, gas, etc and I also get to say I "included" her.

The paying for stuff part sounds nice, but I'd suggest parking her at a shopping mall while you do the actual talking to law school people part.

Rowan, my girlfriend came home at 5:30 and laid down in bed "just for 10 minutes". Now it is 8:00pm, and she is still sleeping. Everytime I go in to wake her, she says "Ok, just a few more minutes, I don't want to sleep for too long." What should I do? I'm hungry and bored.

Order some takeout food, entertain yourself for a few hours, and stop fucking waking her up. If you let her get some rest, she'll probably fuck your brains out around 1:00.

Now if I do this, she'll be up all night, and I won't be able to get to sleep because she will annoy me after sex. I plan to be tired around 1pm.

Leave her alone. The more you bother her, the less she'll want to get up. The less she wants to get up, the later she'll sleep. Just let her sleep until she's not tired anymore, and the problem will solve itself - you shouldn't have pestered her in the first place...I would be pissed if someone tried to wake me up during my nap because he didn't want me to be up all night.

You'd be surpised how long greasy spoon takeout places last. But I've given up on finding a place that's open at 11 on a friday night and resigned myself to heating up the remains of last night's takeout food. I can't wait until the roaches leave and I can cook again.

Suppose each time, he asked you out before, something came up that prevented you meeting up. (such as weather, unexpeced visit from parents)

should he keep on asking you ?

I think you should also factor in your career goals. Would you be happy working in government in the city in question? Do you want to work in a firm? A big firm?

The city question is also an important part of the decision, but there are a few other questions to ask. At the least, you should look at both the income you'd need to pay off your loans and live according to your exepctations, and at the odds of getting a job that would meet that standard.

That sounds about right. Make sure you do enough practice tests and that your average score is about or slighly above where you want it to be, and ignore your emotional reaction to the test.

oh, i meant law school in general, not the LSAT (I'm a 1L atm)

there are days that i think the material is perfectly easy and i would have absolutely no problem on an exam, other days i feel like the stupidest person in the class and they make the bottom of hte curve for people like me.

Oh, I'm sorry. Liquore led me to read LS as LSAT, even though I know you're a 1L.

The advice above is even more lenient for 1Ls. Study as much as you feel you need to, make sure you understand the material, don't kill yourself if you don't get everything, and see how you do on the exam. Given that it's still only September, you shouldn't expect to have a full, clear picture of everything. I think everyone feels like the stupidest person in class once in awhile.

my worry is that i'm not very good at picking up on all the issues...i know most of the material so far, but something always gets brought up that i either didn't notice, or more commonly, thought it was so obvious that it didn't bear addressing. i'm worried that'll hurt on exams.

but you're right, it's early

I've been secretly in love with a really close chick friend for over five years. I've idealized her so much that I assume that no one else will come remotely close to her perfection so most of the time I don't even bother getting interested in other girls. I can't tell the chick friend how I feel because she has a very, very serious boyfriend (like, marriage-track). But I'm still holding out hope that they might break it off one day, which is unlikely but possible as they might be doing the long-distance thing for a few years. It doesn't help that she's basically told me that if she wasn't with her boyfriend, she's be with me.

What should I do? Keep pining away for her? And if not, how do I move past her so I can actually fall for a girl who's single? Help me, Rowan.

For the time being, I think you should stop hanging out with her so much. She apparently already knows you're interested, and continues to prefer the boyfriend. If she changes her mind, it's up to her to let you know.

Until then, hanging out with her less will make it a little easier for you to meet other women. You might pine away for her in her absence, but if you keep a little distance I think you'll eventually become a little more open to the good points of other women. If avoiding the object of your affection isn't an option, at least try to go on a few dates with other women, whether you think they're right at first or not. I think if you have a little more time alone with other women, you'll eventully meet one whose both interesting to you and single.

Did she give you her number? If so, take the direct route and call her - maybe tomorrow or Sunday - and ask her if she wants to do something casual together. If you don't know her number, make sure that you have a conversation with her (not just a hi and bye thing). After you've been talking with her for awhile, ask if she wants to get something to eat/go to the park/see that exhibition on campus/go to that movie. She might shoot down any of these requests, but it's better to find out if she's interested now than 3 months from now.

That second question is one no one has completely figured out. It's risky, and you're fairly likely to fail. I'd say be fairly obvious about it, kiss her or flirt obviously with her. Don't bother dropping hints and don't rely on verbal announcements of your feelings for her (that never goes well).
